Tonight I decided I'd give it a go myself... and I gotta tell you, I'm hooked! What fun!
Here's the challenge - whether you take colour, theme or object is entirely up to you - but your inspiration must come from this picture:
Here's my take on the challenge:
I liked the juxtaposition of the shiny metallic silver against the natural wood - and I had just the materials in my stash to pull it off. I added a cake with candles to complete the picture... and my first challenge is complete. :) Thanks for checkin' it out!
Black card stock: Coredinations
White textured card stock: scrap
Wood: Wooden business card from Lee Valley Tools (my husband laughed when I bought them, but they're great on greeting cards!) which I stained with Tim Holtz's Distress Ink and clear embossed. When it curled, I thought it was ruined... but I love, love, love the way it looks. Sometimes there are happy accidents!
Ribbon: stash
Stickles (seriously, who doesn't love Stickles?!)

Great card, and super interpretation. Clever idea of using the flower punchies as candle holders!

Love the cake! Congrats on completing your first challenge!
The 365 Card challenge site IS fun isn't it? I'm quite new to it, but I LOVE joining in with their challenges.
Your card is FAB. I'm hoping to make something for this challenge myself, later tonight!
That cake is so realistic! Great card!
Great card!! love the cake and yes, there are "happy" accidents!!
Nice Job Carolyn - I like the flowers around the base of the cake and the ribbon. TFS
OH I love it! The texture on the cake is great and I love the silver ribbon!
I am sure hooked on 365 too! This is my first week as well! TFS!!
I love that cake! Holy smokes! I take the wood chips and paint chips and whatnot from the home improvement store all the time for craft purposes. I do intend to paint someetime...so it's not "really" stealing. LOL

Great take on the challenge - love your cake and tinsel and the way you have placed the candles inside the flowers - very creative.
